Update: Producer Shawty Redd Posts Bail!!!
Producer Shawty Redd, who is charged with the New Year’s Day murder of 35-year-old Damon Martin, was released from jail on Tuesday (January 12), according to Captain Jason Bolton of the Henry County (Georgia) Police and a representative for the Henry County Superior Court Clerk. The producer (real name: Demetrius Lee Stewart), who has worked with Snoop Dogg and Young Jeezy, had his bail set at $200,000 at a hearing on Tuesday afternoon, the authorities said, and was given clear instructions not to leave Henry County and to wear an ankle bracelet.
Redd has a preliminary hearing tentatively set for February 3. At press time, his attorney, Marcia Fuller, had not responded to MTV News’ requests for comment.
Redd was arrested on January 1 after police responded to a call about an early morning shooting at Stewart’s home in Hampton, Georgia. According to police, the producer was involved in a physical altercation at his home with Martin, who was described as an “acquaintance.” The confrontation turned physical and Stewart shot and killed Martin, according to the report. Bolton told MTV News that Stewart himself called 911 to alert police about the shooting. Bolton also said Stewart was arrested a few hours later at police headquarters after more questioning by detectives.
Stewart appeared in court on Saturday without his attorney, and was granted another hearing to allow him legal representation. He remained in custody until Tuesday afternoon.
“I really couldn’t believe it,” one of Redd’s peers, producer Zaytoven, told MTV News last week. “You hear a lot of rappers going through that type of trouble, but a producer? That’s my first time hearing that. I was just shocked.
Update: Shawty Redd Court Appearance
Grammy nominated producer Demetrius Stewart known to the world as Shawty Redd made his first court appearance on the charge of murder in front of Henry County Judge Brown this morning. Judge Brown explained to Mr. Stewart what he was being charged with and discussed the issue of giving him a bond. While Shawty Redd was entitled to have been represented by a court appointed attorney for his bond hearing, he decided that since his own attorney was not in town at the moment, he wanted his case postponed for another date. As a result, Magistrate Judge Brown rescheduled his bond hearing for January 12 in which case he must remain in custody until the hearing.
Lead Detective Shares Some Details
Hip Hop Enquirer’s Dennis Byron spoke exclusively with the lead detective Wayne Bender in the case who stated that Mr. Stewart was fully cooperating with the investigation of the case and that he did contact 911 after the shooting which he stated occurred around 8:00 A.M. on New Year’s Day. Although there have been reports that Shawty Redd turned himself in to the police, we have learned from reliable sources that prior to his surrender every effort was made to try and resuscitate the deceased individual. A witness to the incident has stated that they overheard a man fitting the description of the deceased making threats of violence to Mr. Stewart prior to the shooting and that the weapon used was legally registered to him.

Damon A. Martin, a 35 year old resident of Detroit is believed to be the person shot by Mr. Stewart.
Present in court today was Shawty Redd’s grandmother and representatives of Mr. Stewart’s management company.

Producer Shawty Redd Turns Himself In After A Murder…
Hip-Hop producer Shawty Redd has turned himself into authorities after killing a man on New Years day in Henry County, Georgia. According to reports, Shawty Redd got into an argument with another man at his residence and feared for his life when the victim was shot and killed. Currently no bond has been issued for Shawty Redd, whose real name is Demetrius Stewart, as he awaits for arraignment. Shawty Redd has produced numerous hits for Young Jeezy, Gucci Mane, 8 Ball & MJG and was responsible for Snoop Dogg’s hit “Sexual Eruption/ Sensual Seduction.”

In the early morning of New Year’s day while Demetrius Stewart professionally known as Shawty Redd, was at his home with another individual, who was not an intruder was also there. An argument ensued between Shawty Redd and this individual. in which this individual threaten violence against Shawty Redd. Shawty Redd feared his life and felt his life was in jeopardy and retrieved his firearm for self-defense. As a result an individual was shot and killed. Immediately, thereafter Shawty Redd went to the Henry County Police Department and surrender himself. At approximately, 5:30 PM crime scene units were seen leaving Shawty Redd house in Henry County.
