(New York, December 2, 2010) – Clear Channel Radio’s Power 105.1 (WWPR-FM), New York’s Hip Hop & R&B, is pleased to announce that DJ Envy, Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God have officially been announced as the station’s new morning show. Listen starting on December 6th,as the “The Breakfast Club” will be on-air in the tri-state area from 6-10AM weekdays on Power 105.1. The announcement was made by Cadillac Jack, Operations Manager for Clear Channel Radio New York and Program Director for Power 105.1.
DJ Envy stated: “I told myself that I would never do Mornings again, but with a team like me, Angela Yee and Charlamagne, who could say no? Get used to spending your mornings with us.”
Angela Yee stated: “I’m looking forward to making history with this new morning show. I can’t imagine a better dream team than the one we’ve created and I’m excited to get to work!”
Charlamagne Tha God stated: “I feel blessed and highly favored. DJ Envy and Angela Yee are two people that I have been fans of for a long time. I knew we all were moving the culture forward individually, but to be able to move the culture forward collectively under the Power 105.1 brand is something I could have only dreamed of until now.”
Cadillac Jack stated: “We’ve found three extraordinary people in Envy, Angela and Charlamagne, and I’m thrilled to see this exceptional team help lead Power 105.1 into the future. WWPR/Power 105.1 has fired its veteran morning man Ed Lover, along with show producer Sarah O’Connor.
Ed Lover, who is known for his viral web series “C’mon Son,” had been with the Hip-Hop station since 2002.
Part of the morning team that featured Doctor Dre and Lisa G. Although Lover was switched to the afternoon slot, he returned to mornings when Star and Buc Wild left in 2006.
