Interscope denied taking part in any drug-related operations.
“The information being reported in the press regarding Interscope Records‘ involvement with the ongoing criminal prosecution of James Rosemond is both erroneous and completely unsupported.”
“Interscope Records has been informed by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York that there is no evidence that any employee of UMG or Interscope Records had any involvement in the drug trafficking ring being prosecuted by that office, nor any knowledge of the contents of any of the packages that were purportedly shipped to its offices.”
The statement goes on to say,
“Further, neither UMG nor Interscope Record are a subject or target of the investigation. UMG and Interscope will continue to cooperate with the United States Attorney’s Office regarding this matter.”
After publicly stating his current dissatisfaction with Interscope Records and its president Jimmy Iovine last week, rapper 50 Cent has been making the rounds as the topic of numerous headlines and stories.
The rapper recently dropped a new song “Outlaw,” and announced that his new album and headphones will be released this November.
50, who was said to be hard at work on his fifth studio album, said the following on Twitter last week: “I’m sorry to announce I will not be releasing a new album this year if we don’t get on the same page.”
“We” meaning 50 and Interscope Records.
50 spoke to MTV News and said “What happens is, there are a lot of people involved in my actual launch, because its three parties; it’s Shady, then you got Aftermath, then you got Interscope, and then you got me on my end. So by the time we got to go sit down with Jimmy, we talked a little bit, and then I ended up having to go see Dre, because we had the little issue, the confusion about the Twitter stuff.”
The recent meet-up with Dr. Dre produced more than just some common ground for the two titans.
They managed to create, write, and record what is said to be the next single off of Dre’s long-awaited, perpetually in-the-making, album, Detox.
