Brother Of Slain Robbery Victim Calls G-Dep An Idiot!

A family member of the man that former Bad Boy artist G-Dep confessed to killing, is stepping up and calling G-Dep an “idiot” for confessing to the 17-year-old murder.

According to the New York Post, Robert Henkel, the step-brother of the victim, states that G-Dep shouldn’t have confessed to the murder and thinks  that G-Dep should have listened to his mother who reportedly told the rapper not to “turn himself in.”

“His mother told him, ‘Don’t turn yourself in,’ “ Henkel said in the interview (referring to a previous New York Post interview with G-Dep). “She was right . . . After all this time, yes, he just should have shut up.”

Henkel also states that although he understands the gesture, he is actually thinking of G-Dep and his family and claims that Dep should have done the same.

“I think he’s an idiot,” Henkel continued. “He has three kids and a wife. It was years and years and years ago. Finally, we’re not always thinking about it . . . and now it has to be dug up all again.”

G-Dep Officially Indicted For Murder!

Former Bad Boy rapper G-Dep may have finally gotten the peace he was looking for but at a hefty cost; 25 years to life.

A New York grand jury officially indicted him for murder Tuesday after he confessed to shooting a man three times in the chest when he was 18 and fleeing the scene.

Since his confession, Dep, real name Trevell Coleman, told The NYPost that he didn’t know his victim died when he decided to come clean on the cold case.

According to Dep, he just wanted a clean conscience.

I was surprised — for some reason, I really didn’t think that he died,” the bald and bearded Coleman said in a jailhouse interview. “When they told me, I was like, ‘Oh, I’m not going home after this.”

His lawyer, Michael Alperstein, claims Coleman was prompted to confess to the crime as part of a 12-step program to conquer his battle with drug addiction.

Dep remains behind bars pending his sentencing.

G-Dep Now Claims He Didn’t Realize He Was Confessing To Murder!

Adding a bizarre twist to an already strange story, former Bad Boy artist G-Dep is now saying he didn’t know the man he confessed to shooting 17 years ago had actually died.

In an interview with the New York Post, the troubled rapper seems to hint that he thought he would be walking out of the precinct after the confession.

I was surprised, for some reason I didn’t think that he died. When they [police] told me I was like, ‘Oh I’m not going home after this,’” he said.

As if the police would have let him just go on his merry way after confessing to shooting a man three times during a botched robbery.

When the story first broke Dep’s lawyer, Michael Alperstein told the Post the rapper should not be presumed guilty.

My client is presumed innocent, and the case is going to a grand jury,” Alperstein said.

Proving his innocence is going to be almost impossible, he knew details about the crime only the killer would know according to police.

After sitting in jail for several days, maybe the realization that he may never see the free world again is setting in on Dep. But he says he talked things over with his mother and girlfriend before going to the police station.

“I told my mom and my girlfriend that I wanted to confess and they both told me to leave it in the past. My girlfriend is pretty peeved,” the former chart topping rapper admitted. “I thought if I turned myself in it might give me closure, I’m just trying to get right with God. The only thing I regret is that I have to leave my kids.

Dep has three children with Lyvonnia Crawford.

Bottom line is he killed John Henkel on the night of October 19, 1993, now he’ll most likely have to pay for it.

SMDH: G-Dep Turns Himself In For Murder!

G-Dep, who rocked out with Diddy and Black Rob on 2001′s “Let’s Get It” from P. Diddy & The Family:  The Saga Continues album which helped spawn the “Harlem Shake” dance to the masses, has turned himself into police for a murder he says he committed 17 years ago.

According to The New York Post, G-Dep, whose real name is Trevell Coleman, walked into the 25th Precinct in New York and confessed to the cold case.

The 36-year-old G-Dep who was 18 at the time of the crime  told police,

“I shot and killed someone 17 years ago.”

The murder  reportedly happened on October 19, 1993 outside the James Weldon Johnson Houses when G-Dep attempted to rob John Henkel.

G-Dep, whose rap name was short for “Ghetto Dependent,” grew up in those projects and told police officers he was riding a bicycle when he approached the 32-year-old Henkel  on Park Avenue and East 114th Street and announced a robbery.

The former Bad Boy records  rapper told police  detective William Dunn that Henkel resisted and grabbed his .40-caliber gun. He allegedly admitted that he pulled away and shot his victim three times in the chest.

Coleman then said  he fled and tossed the weapon into the East River.

The victim was taken  to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Detectives stated that the crime “had been eating away at him.”

G-Dep has been charged with murder and is currently being held without bail and has over 25 arrest since 2003 from charges that include burglary and drugs.

All you can do is pray for all those involved with this one…
