Tour Bus Driver In Horror Crash That Left 15 Dead Had Already Been Jailed For Manslaughter!

The driver of a bus which crashed in New York City at the weekend – leaving 15 passengers dead – had previously served two years in jail for manslaughter.

Ophadell Williams was initially charged for second-degree murder in the 1990 stabbing, but it was later downgraded to manslaughter, according to state records.

He spent another three years in jail from 1998 to 2008 for grand larceny after he took a  $83,905 cheque from a Police Athletic League fund, according to Linda Foglia, correctional services spokeswoman.

State officials also revealed Mr Williams should never have been allowed to get behind the wheel because of a driving suspension and several traffic violations.

He was ticketed in 1995 for speeding and twice for driving without a licence, giving police the alias of Erik Williams.

His driving privileges were suspended – meaning he was not legally allowed to drive in the state – after he failed to address the charges.

The revelations prompted New York state governor Andrew Cuomo to launch an investigation into how he was able to hold a valid commercial driver’s licence at the time of the crash.

Investigators are now piecing together Mr Williams’s trail by matching Social Security numbers of traffic stops under different names, according to officials. They were speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the investigation.

Mr Williams also had an incomplete log book, a requirement for commercial drivers, they said.

Investigators zeroed in on the driver’s record after passengers and witnesses contradicted Mr Williams’s story that his tour bus was clipped by a tractor-trailer. He was driving 32 people, mostly from Chinatown, back to New York after a trip to a casino in Connecticut.

A 70-year-old passenger died yesterday morning at St. Barnabas’ Hospital in the Bronx, bringing the death toll to 15. The bus was sheared in half by a sign pole after overturning on the highway, killing and maiming passengers.

Tiger Woods Injured in Car Crash & Cheating On Wife….

Tiger Woods Seriously Injured in Crash

The best golfer of all time has gotten into a serious car accident near his house early this morning.

He hit a fire hydrant and crashed into his neighbors tree, causing serious facial injury.

The world’s greatest golfer is now involved in a soap opera of monumental proportions following reports that Tiger Woods car accident occurred after a fight over Wood’s cheating on his wife.

The accident, which was originally reported to have left Tiger in a “serious condition” turned out not to be that serious after all. The hospital that treated Woods said in a statement that “Tiger Woods was in a minor car accident outside his home last night. He was admitted, treated, and released today in good condition.”

But here’s where it gets more interesting: reports claim that both Woods and his wife, Elin Woods told police that they had been arguing after Elin discovered that Tiger had been cheating on her with a woman named Rachel Uchitel…immediately before the accident. The suggestion is that Tiger stormed out of the house, and crashed his car while attempting to leave….at 2:25 a.m. in the morning.

Just because no soap opera isn’t complete without one last twist, there’s also rumors circulating that Tiger had been drinking as well, and police may be pressing charges over the accident.

$500,000 Settlement In The Late DJ A&M Plane Crash

$500,000 Settlement In The Late DJ A&M Plane Crash
“The late co-pilot James Bland’s family will receive just over $500,000 from companies including Global Exec. Aviation and Inter Travel & Services. According to docs obtained by TMZ, Bland’s widow will get $406,250 and the daughter will receive $25,000 per year for three years.

The late Goldstein’s mother has reportedly continued a lawsuit previously filed by her son against Learjet which accuses the company of contributing to his death last summer.

Andrea Gross has amended his $20 million lawsuit against the plane manufacturer, the pilots’ estates and others by adding a wrongful death claim, Los Angeles court papers show. “The crash ultimately caused Adam Goldstein’s death at a later date,” the papers state. Friends and associates of the musician have widely blamed his trauma from the September 2008 plane crash as leading to his fatal relapse in August.

A $12 million lawsuit was filed in February 2009 by the owner and operator of the crashed plane against the airport, tire company and persons responsible for designing the jet.

In court papers filed in South Carolina, Inter Travel & Services (the owner) and Global Exec Aviation (the operator) have placed blame on the “defective” jet and the “defective” runway at Columbia Metro Airport claiming those were the two main reasons the jet plowed nose-first into a raised embankment.” – KeepitTrill.com
