The vice president has announced Hosni Mumbarak has stepped down as the president of Egypt. He is now in a resort near the Red Sea. The VP Omar Suleiman says the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces will handle the affairs of the country from this day forward. The anti-government protestors are chanting “Egypt is free!” all over Cairo.
The exact words which set the people of Egypt free were – “In these difficult circumstances, the country is passing through, President Hosni Mubarak has decided to step down. as president of Egypt and he has decided that the higher council of the armed forces will lead the nation.”
