Olympic gold medalist Carl Lewis‘ next race could be a run for New Jersey Senate.
A news conference is schedule for Monday at 2 p.m. EST, where the nine-time gold medal winner turned civic activist will announce his political plans.
The 49-year-old athlete has never run for office, but local Democrats believe Lewis would made a distinguished candidate to unseat current New Jersey state Senator Republican Dawn Addiego, in a run for the 8th legislative district in 2012.
Candidates have until 4 p.m. Monday to file petitions to run for New Jersey Legislature.
