BLACKS SPEND AS ECONOMY IMPROVES
African-American consumers are
cautiously increasing their
spending in some key product
categories, even as they continue
to make adjustments in a slowly
growing economy. In 2009, black
households spent an estimated $507
billion in 27 product and services
categories. That’s an increase of
16.6% over the $435 billion spent
in 2008. African-Americans’ total
earned income for 2009 is estimated
at $836 billion.

JUDGE REJECTS LAWSUIT AGAINST RICK ROSS
A federal judge in Los Angeles has
tossed out a $10 million claim by
convicted drug kingpin “Freeway”
Ricky Ross against the rapper Rick
Ross, Jay-Z, Def Jam, UMG, Vivendi
and others. Ross filed the lawsuit
in June alleging that the hip hop
star had stolen his name and
identity.

As previously reported, a Rikers Island guard confirmed that the Young Money head would not be released today as scheduled, due to a miscalculation of his prison time.
Another official at Rikers Island confirms to MTV however that the rapper was just discharged at 8:35 a.m.
An attorney for Wayne says he’ll travel to Arizona within 72 of his release and fill out documentation to start his 36-month probation term for a separate drug paraphernalia case

‘Do you want to go in first?’ asked Oprah, nodding to their modest quarters. ‘Let’s just add to that lesbian rumor, come on in baby!’ replied King, 55, who edits Oprah’s ‘O’ magazine. Spreading out her arms, the American TV billionaire giggled: ‘Lesbian rumors!’
