The stars descended on Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre this past Sunday for the MTV Video Music Awards, but there’s one artist who wasn’t so pleased that her invite never came in the mail. Keyshia Cole, who recently gave birth to her first son, took to her Twitter account during the ceremony on Sunday night to address fans as to why she suspects MTV decided to exclude her from the event.
“MTV told me im not a….. MTV artist ….. sooooo,’ she tweeted to a fan. “Idk they’re perception of who am … i haven’t crossed over yet…. i only sell 1.5 every album.. thats only 5 mill. in 5 years.”
Cole, who has been relatively quiet since the release of her third album ‘A Different Me’ in 2008, most recently performed alongside B.o.B and Eminem at the 2010 BET Awards, where she replaced Paramore’s Hayley Williams on the chorus of their hit ‘Airplanes (Part II).’
The 28-year-old is currently in the studio working on her fourth album, ‘Keyshia,’ slated for release later this year. The LP is set to feature production from Pharrell Williams and Donald Alford, as well as a collaboration with fellow R&B singer Faith Evans.
MissInfo: Tonight me and my girl D took the train up to the Bronx for Night #1 of the Home and Home concert: Jay-Z and Eminem at Yankee Stadium (previous stop: Detroit’s Comerica Park). It was my first time at Yankee Stadium. And I don’t just mean the new one. *ashamed* So the whole night was exciting. The place was beautiful, you could feel the wealth of the organization. The crowd was very ‘Yo Bro,’ and at one point a guy behind us screamed to someone, ‘Show me your t-ts!’ (smh) Also, I don’t know where the hyped gourmet eats were but I had a lukewarm Nathans that meh. (It’s unacceptable for the Nathans at a Home Depot to be tastier than the home of the World Series Champs.)
But back to the concert…..It was major as promised, both in scope, in polish, and in star-power. Both Eminem and Jay-Z showcased their best work and biggest crowdpleasers. Eminem brought out Dr. Dre, D-12, 50 Cent and G-unit. Then Jay-Z brought out Kanye, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Chris Martin, Memphis Bleek, Swizz Beatz and Beyonce. But more importantly, he also performed 4 songs live for the first time…
…Jay kicked it off by doing both Kanye’s “Power (Remix)” and his “Monster” track with Nicki. This was a pure gift to the hardcore hip hop fans that probably confused the mostly “mainstream” crowd. Later on, the gifts continued with a performance of “Most Kingz” with Chris Martin, and “Light Up” with Drake. So I couldn’t complain about having to hear “Forever Young,” especially since Beyonce sang the chorus beautifully. (But if you have one of the most stunning women on the planet onstage, why only let her fill in for Mr. Hudson? She could have sung with Kanye and maybe used the n-word one. JK ; ) If there were any drawbacks, it was the audio; sometimes the vocals were frustratingly muddy or low compared to the live band. Blame the acoustics of Yankee Stadium? (A twitterer said he had the same issue with Comerica) The fact that I couldnt hear Em’s verse on “Renegade” or Nicki’s verse during “Monster” made me crazy though. On the plus side, it was hilarious watching the two lyric-transcription screens try to keep up with all the night’s spit. PS: Allegedly A-Rod gave Hov and his biz-partner OG Juan their own Yankee World Series Winner rings? Wowza. Jay was wearing it during his intro. PPS: I heard Amber Rose was backstage but not with Kanye. She’s rocking pink hair.
Chelsea Handler’s sex tape is very close to being sold and before its release RadarOnline.com can reveal new details about the video.
“After Radar broke the existence of Chelsea’s sex tape several people came forward with copies,” a source told RadarOnline.com.
“It’s been shopped around for the past four months and a deal is very close to being made.”
As RadarOnline.com previously reported, the VHS tape was made more than a decade ago after Chelsea moved to Los Angeles and was intended to be a demo of her stand-up routine and included a clip of her homemade sex tape.
Handler claims the demo-tape-accidentally-recorded-over-sex-tape theme was intentional and has dismissed the tape as a joke that she showed a birthday parties.
But the sex on the tape, which may be simulated, is graphic enough not only to shock but also to draw substantial interest in releasing the tape publicly.
“My name is Chelsea. I moved out here from New Jersey about two years ago because I wanted to be an actress,” Chelsea states at the beginning of the tape.
The video is too graphic to show on RadarOnline.com, which ends with Chelsea’s partner asking, “Did we get the (bleep) shot?”
After 15 seconds of sexually explicit footage the tape cuts back to Chelsea in the middle of her stand-up routine.
And whatever you think of the joke of sending out an audition tape that appears to have been accidentally recorded over a sex tape, the early-career standup routine does not get a lot of laughs.
After nearly eight minutes of an excruciatingly bad and drawn-out waitress joke the tape cuts to Chelsea’s bedroom where she’s naked on all fours having what appears to be sexual intercourse with a male partner who speaks with a British accent.
“I would like to say to RadarOnline.com, thanks for ruining my surprise Christmas gift to my staff, and number two, it was made as a joke,” Chelsea said on her show Chelsea Lately when RadarOnline.com initially broke the story.
“I put it on an audition tape for a comedy club, because I’m a comedienne, and I’ve been showing it at birthday parties for f**king years!”
But as RadarOnline.com exclusively reported, we have viewed the entire tape and that’s one XXX-rated joke! Chelsea is naked and the sex act is graphic enough.
RadarOnline.com confirmed that the tape was sent out to Hollywood agents as a demo when Chelsea was looking to secure work. If it was an attempt to get noticed, it worked!
“Chelsea gave this demo tape to a bunch of talent agents and managers hoping to book some gigs,” the source said.
“It was taken so long ago, distributed on old VHS tapes and the stand-up was so bad that most of the recipients of the tape probably didn’t even watch past the first couple of minutes and missed the sex tape part altogether.
