Usher Covers People Magazine!

Usher is being a good Daddy for People Magazine, talking in detail about his sons Usher V (aka Cinco) and Nayvid as well as his divorce from their mother, Tameka Foster.

In the interview Usher refrains from bashing his notorious ex-wife:

“I appreciate the relationship for what it was,” he says. “Even though it didn’t work out, I’m glad we got together. I love her as the mother of my children; we just couldn’t be married.”

So what went wrong? Usher says that shortly after the birth of their second child, he and Foster started to disagree over everything from parenting style to his busy schedule.

“We’re two different people,” he says, “and we have two different goals. It just was never going to work out 100 percent.”

Usher also spilled the beans on his kids personalities, explaining:

“Usher [V] is always in everything,” he says. “He’s an instigator. He’s the one who leads his brother astray. I was like that when I was his age.”

“Naviyd is more of a follower, doing whatever his big brother does.So if one gets in trouble, the other one does, too,” says Usher. “They both have a lot of energy. They can wear me out.”

Fortunately, Usher has a babysitter nearby – his mom, Jonetta Patton, lives around the corner. “She spoils them,” Usher says with a sigh. “She lets them do everything that she wouldn’t let me do. Sometimes, when I’m scolding the kids, I sound just like my mom. I’m like, ‘how did Jonetta get in here?’ “

Usher also got in some good promo for his new EP Versus:

“My music is about where I am at the time,” he says. “In Raymond vs. Raymond, I was going through a lot of things, and it came out in my music. My marriage fell apart and I was suddenly a single father. But now, with Versus, I’m singing about being a dating father.”

“I still believe in love,” says Usher. “I believe in marriage. When I fall in love again, everyone will know. I’ll sing about it.”

2010 Emmy Award Show Recap!

Despite the caliber of stars in attendance at last night’s Emmy Awards, the show was no ratings breaker.
The highlight of the night was really the opening number with Jimmy Fallon and Tina Fey helping the Glee kids “raise money” to get to the award show. Betty White made an appearance as Don Draper’s choreographer, telling him to “back that mother up” and stars including Nina Dobrev, Jane Lynch, Jorge Garcia boogied down on stage.

Even Kate Gosselin got in on it. “It was my redemption for Dancing With The Stars,” she said.
Fallon as host was great. He did a few more song parodies throughout the show and really played up his “I’m just a regular guy who happens to be funny” vibe and the crowd really seemed to like it.In terms of winners, the show was all over the place – no one show dominated the awards even though the momentum for shows like Glee and Mad Men was high.
Each went into the show with 19 and 17 nominations, but neither managed to sweep the night. Mad Men did win for Best Drama and Writing but was shut out of the acting categories. Glee won for Directing in Comedy and Jane Lynch got the Best Supporting Actress Win.
Just like the past three years, Breaking Bad‘s Bryan Cranston won for Best Actor in a Drama.

George Clooney was on hand to accept the Bob Hope Humanatarian Award but kept things light with his cameo in a Modern Family comedy sketch, as the love interest of first Julie Bowen, then Sofia Vergara, and finally, and the funniest part, of Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet’s characters Mitchell and Cameron.
Al Pacino kind of rambled through his speech for his Best Actor for You Don’ Know Jack and told Jack Kevorkian, who he portays in the film, “You’re alright, Jack.”
There were a few surprises though:
Top Chef beat out Amazing Race and Kyra Sedgwick finally won for The Closer (does anyone actually watch that show, though?). We will admit that we were creeped out when she kissed husband Kevin Bacon before hitting the stage to accept her award.

Edie Falco won for comedy actress for Nurse Jackie so that makes the first time a woman has won both the drama and comedy lead actress awards. Way to go, Carmela!
Archie Panjabi – who we love, love, love in The Good Wife – was the ultimate underdog for Supporting Actress in a Drama against Mad Men’s Elizabeth Moss and Christina Hendricks and her co-star veteran Christine Baranski. So her win was truly a highlight of the night.

Jim Parsons of CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory” was named Best Actor in a Comedy and Aaron Paul took it home for Breaking Bad in the Supporting Actor in a Drama category.

The real star was Temple Grandin, though and she isn’t even an actress. HBO’s biopic about her life starring Caire Danes was nominated for 7 awards last night and won 5 . Grandin was diagnosed with autism when in 1950 when she was 2 – a time when autism was really a mystery to doctors. She went on to earn a doctorate in animal science from University of Illinois and is considered one of the top advocates of both autism-spectrum understanding and animal welfare, and and is well known for her invention of more humane slaughterhouse practices, for which she has been recognized by PETA.

Kind of makes you want to see the movie now, huh?

Daily Show With Jon Stewart won for for Comedy Series which was expected but most people were hoping that Conan would win this one for his brief stint on The Tonight Show. He was there and probably had a great speech ready.

Laurence Fishburne presented an award last night to Tom Hanks for The Pacific and the whole time we couldn’t past the fact that his daughter, Montana Fishburne, is a porn star.

Paris Hilton To Be Charged w/ Felony Drug Possession!

Paris Hilton will be charged with possession of a controlled substance — .8 grams of cocaine — this according to documents obtained by TMZ … and it’s a felony.

The D.A. will file the case today, TMZ is told.

According to the police report, the cop who stopped the Escalade pulled along the passenger side of the vehicle and smelled “the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.”

The cop writes he noticed immediately the passenger was Paris.  He then observed her trying to roll up the window.

After the traffic stop and a crowd of 100 people gathered around, Hilton said she was “extremely embarrassed” and asked the cop if she could go to the bathroom at the Wynn Hotel.

At the hotel, Paris told the cop she needed lip balm so the cop handed Paris her purse: “As she began to open it, I saw a small bindle of what I believed to be cocaine in a clear baggie begin to fall from the purse and into my hand.”

The cop also says … inside the purse was a “broken tablet of Albuterol” — a prescription medication used to control wheezing.  And cops say they found Zig Zag wrappers … commonly used to roll joints.

Paris then admitted the Albuterol was hers but she said the cocaine was not and claimed the purse was not hers — that she had borrowed it from a friend.  The cop questioned Paris about the cocaine and according to cops Paris gave an odd answer: “She said she had not seen it, but now thought it was gum.”

Note:  Paris has changed her story with friends, saying the purse was hers but had been in the possession of a friend.  Paris claimed to cops several cosmetic items in the purse were not hers, but she copped to $1,300 cash and some credit cards.

Cops say they found .8 grams of coke in the purse.

SMH: Snooki’s Boyfriend Jeff Miranda Proposes To Her On A Magazine Cover?

Yes, you’re reading correctly.  Jeff Miranda covers the latest issue of Steppin’ Out magazine – where his cover story asks his Jersey Shore girlfriend Snooki to get married.  Will she say yes???  He says:

“I want us to be together forever. I could see us having children. I want to pop the question to her. If we got married we would be the best parents around. She’s so loving and puts everyone else before her self. She’ll be a great mother. I love her and want to be with her. I will never break her heart. She’s such a great girl. If people could see us together they would think we’re a match made in heaven. People think I’m using her for fame. But that’s bullshit.”

Florida Man Caught Posing As Middle School Student To Play Football!

A 21-year-old Florida man has been charged with trespassing after posing as a middle school student in order to play youth football.

According to youth league and district officials Julious Threatts, 21, used the name Chad Johnson to register for a Tampa Youth Football League comprised of 13 and 14 year-olds, on August 21.

The following Tuesday, Threats attempted enroll in local Webb Middle School under the same alias telling administrators he was homeless.

According to school officials, a social worker was called in and Threatts was then moved into an office when his cell phone rang. When administrators answered the poser’s cell; his mother was on the line and revealed the man’s identity.

In addition to the trespassing charge, he also is being held on charges of violating probation in a 2009 burglary case.

According to one youth league coach, this is not the first time Threatts has tried to pull this stunt. He apparently tried to pose as an adolescent the previous year on another area football team.

Ray McCloud, the athletic director of the youth team Threatts recently attempted to join says,

“This guy had us all fooled. I mean this guy acted just like a little kid. Everything about him was a little kid. He’s a total scam artist.”

This is the second time this year that an adult caught posing as a youth has landed in the national headlines. In May, 22-year-old former Fort Lauderdale basketball standout Guerdwich Montimere was arrested after police said he posed as a 16-year-old boy playing on a Texas high school team.
