VADO Talks Dip Set, Cam’Ron & Beef w/ Julez Santana!

View All Photos | V.A.D.O. = Violence And Drugs Only | VADO! MAN!!! MixTape Out Now!! Boss Of All Bossess

If you’re a part of the Twitter world or just not living under a rock in general, chances are somewhere at some time you’ve heard someone refer to their friend as “slime” and tell someone to “stop it, 5.” A newcomer out of Harlem, rapper Vado, is to thank for that. After signing under fellow Harlemite Cam’Ron in 2009, Vado is already making a name in Hip-Hop and finally giving Harlem the shine it hasn’t seen since the days of Ma$e and shiny suits. Allhiphop.com catches up with Vado as he explains how he’s in the Diplomats but not Dip Set, the real deal with him and Juelz Santana and what exactly a “slime” is.

AllHipHop.com: When you signed on with Cam’Ron, that was only just last year. For a lot of artists, it takes at least a few years to really see any notoriety at all, let alone doing shows all over the country and getting so many record spins. What was your mind set going into this situation? Were you prepared to just really grind it out for a few years, or was part of the deal like you got to get out there ASAP?

VADO: I was ready to just grind it out you know? I got with somebody that I always looked up to, so I was just happy to be there. I was happy to just work with him and grind it out, whether I make it or not.

AllHipHop.com: How did you two link up to begin with?

VADO: My man Suga Duga is a mutual friend from the neighborhood…you know we all from Harlem. I reached out to him because I knew he be with Cam. In turn he reached out to Cam, and Cam heard me out.

AllHipHop.com: Suga Duga must have really said some good things, no? Everyone knows someone that knows someone that’s “on”. People aren’t really getting deals left and right off of “Yo, check my man out…”

VADO: Yea shout to Suga Duga for real. He really said some good things, and really just explained to Cam like who I am, what I do, the buzz I already had on the street. To really help the situation and back up what he was saying, me and Cam had both recently been in an issue of XXL, so Cam was like, “oh ok I’ll hear him out.”

AllHipHop.com: Ok so then how’d you get into rapping?

VADO: Back in the day running around with Jae Millz all the time. We grew up together. I was kind of like the popular dude but street hustler you know, whatever. He was like the very talented one, so I’d just be in the studio with him all the time, going around the world with him. So one day I’m like man, let me just start spitting. So I start playing with it, no homo and I used to rap it to him and he’d be like, “who said that?” You know, as if like I’m quoting like a real hot rap lyric. I’d be like, “man I said that.” He’d be like “you ain’t say that.” I’m like, “word, I said that.” So I started doing it a little more and he used to tell me stuff like, “yo I love listening to you, no homo.” When he said that I’m like word? So then I started doing this mad cipher thing with him and that’s how I caught my buzz. When people started showing me love from that, then that’s when I knew like aight I’ma do this.

AllHipHop.com: Did you ever think your current record “Speaking Tongues” would take off as quickly as it did? I mean to have Funkmaster Flex obsess over a record with a new artist as quickly as he did, it’s kind of huge.

VADO: Yes and no. Like I really didn’t realize it was going to do what it’s doing, but I did think it’d make a buzz for me and for us. I thought like as far as New York to make people start paying attention, I thought that’s about as big as it’d be. I ain’t realize like it was going to be getting spins all over the country, got me on the road and everything. It’s crazy but it’s such a blessing. Shout to Sire, he did the beat because the beat was just incredible. It’s an instant knock.

AllHipHop.com: You and Cam have a joint album, Gunz N Butta coming out next month. Where did the decision to do a joint album come from?

VADO: We want to show the movement, the whole U.N. movement to say like you know, we’re here. It was originally a group, but me and Cam’s combo is just so crazy we were like man…we’re just gonna do this, just us.

AllHipHop.com: So the U.N. just solely consists of Cam’Ron and Vado? There’s no other rappers in the group?

VADO: Nah, just me and Cam.

AllHipHop.com: What kind of sound is “Gunz & Butta” leaning towards?

VADO: Gunz & Butta is just classic music, it’s Harlem. It got that Harlem sound all the way. The lyrics is definitely Harlem, it’s just gonna give you that feeling that’s gonna make you want to go through Harlem. You might live in Oklahoma and be like you know what, I wanna roll through Harlem today.

AllHipHop.com: Where’d the title come from?

VADO: “Gunz N Butta” is just brains and business. Guns is just a slang way of saying your brain.

AllHipHop.com: With the onset of the Diplomats reunion, where do you fit in with this? Are you “Dip Set”?

VADO: Nah I’m not Dip Set at all. I’m not Dip Set, I’m just an artist over there. Dip Set came back, but the movement is the U.N. So I’m the artist coming out under the U.N., but at the end of the day, you know, it’s Diplomats. I’m signed to Diplomat Records, but I’m not in the “group” Dip Set.

AllHipHop.com: What are the future plans for U.N.? Is it going to remain just you and Cam forever, or do you guys want to build on that and add more artists and things like that in the future?

VADO: Yea we gon’ build the U.N. same way he built the Dip Set.

AllHipHop.com: You have this highly anticipated mixtape, Slime Flu , that’s supposed to have come out for a while now. What’s the status of that?

VADO: The thing is when we hit y’all, we gonna hit y’all with a two piece that’s gonna be so strong. Because Gunz n Butta come out September, and I think Slime Flu come out the next week.

AllHipHop.com: Is it going to be just a street mixtape or will it actually be sold in stores?

VADO: It’ll be in a store near you.

http://allhiphop.com/photos/blog_pictures/images/22343031/170x170.aspx

AllHipHop.com: Now being that you’re in an obviously similar position as Juelz Santana once was, it’s inevitable that people are going to talk. There’s been so many comparisons and people attempting to put you two against each other. There’s rumors that you said things about Juelz and vice versa. Has there been dialogue between you two? Is there beef or tension?

VADO: Oh nah there’s no beef. We’re cool. We went to school together. At the end of the day, I don’t feed into subliminals. Even though I know there aren’t any but of course the streets are always gonna talk. Me and him is cool, it’s just that you know, we’re two dudes, come out of Harlem that’s protégés of Cam’Ron. I’m not no wack looking dude you know? I got swag, so of course there’s going to be comparisons. “Oh he think he Juelz.” Why I think I’m Juelz? Because I got swag too? That don’t make sense. I’m from Harlem, what you think?

AllHipHop.com: Coming into a deal with Cam, were you apprehensive about the situation because of the negative things put in the press about the fall out of the Diplomats originally? Juelz had said Cam did him wrong, Jim said it. Did you ever think like man, I’ve got to be careful and watch out for him?

VADO: I mean you got to be careful regardless with anybody you deal with you know? But as soon as I got with Cam, the first thing he said to me was, “I want to help you make some money.” That’s all he need to say to me. I don’t care what you call “rape” but get me out the hood. Just get me out, you know what I’m saying? That’s why I don’t pay attention to what I hear because I’m paying attention to my own situation. He’s doing what he got to do. He got me out the hood which is square one and we working, you know?

AllHipHop.com: What is it about your individual styles of rapping that compliments each other? Why do you work so well together?

VADO: Our styles is kind of the same. I like to talk about street stuff, stuff that’s going on in my world which is Harlem. I don’t care if you don’t know that person. I don’t care if you don’t know that drunk wino in the store, I’ma talk about him you feel me? We click real heavy when it comes to music. Sometimes, you know, strong minds think alike and I might say a slick bar and he’ll be like, “man I said something similar to that man. But I’ma let you get that.” You know? It’s all love.

AllHipHop.com: This whole situation is a huge look for Harlem. Do you feel it’s important to rep for it?

VADO: When I came in the game, I wanted to make it with Millz because you know we came up together, bunk beds…no homo. He’s my partner you know so when that didn’t happen…when he got signed to Young Money and I realized that wasn’t gonna happen no time soon, I reached out to Cam. But when Cam wasn’t back on the scene, I wasn’t reaching out to nobody you know? I was just chilling, tryna come up by myself. But when Cam came out I reached out quick because it’s all about Harlem. It’s all about making Harlem as big as Atlanta, Miami, Houston…all these other towns that done came up.

AllHipHop.com: You and Jae Millz have been tight for years, but he was always the bigger name. Do you think there’s going to be any tension running with different crews and the possibility one could be doing better than the other at certain times?

VADO: Nah because we brothers. It might be a little because we brothers but you know, brothers fight and then it’s over with. Like for instance, we’re getting a little tension now from our block. They be like “oh Vado better”, “oh Millz better”, “oh Vado’s more street”, “oh Millz more talented”…they say all types of stuff. But at the end of the day, you ask me where I’m at? I’m at Millz crib. Or Millz at my crib. We don’t pay that no mind. Sometimes I tell my slimes like “don’t feed into that man, don’t pay that no mind.” At the end of the day me and Millz just laughing, you feel me? And they’ll be the ones that’s cut off. I don’t ever compare myself to Millz. I feel I’m talented, I feel he’s talented and we just fire and together we’re crazy.

Montana Fishburne Covers Assets Magazine & “Cease & Desist” Letters To Brian Pumper!

Controversial adult actress Montana Fishburne, daughter of actor Laurence Fishburne (star of hit movies like THE MATRIX, Bumpy Johnson, Boyz n the Hood, TV show CSI and much more), sat down and gave us an EXCLUSIVE interview, only granted in Assets Magazine. We will be the only mens urban magazine to get the REAL answers to what everybody wants to know…….”Why do porn when your father is Laurence Fishburne”?

http://www.pixshock.net/pic_b/19dfe95c3fd2b6e3a17900e4b012ebf7.jpg

It seems as if the beef between Montana Fishburne and Brian Pumper has just stepped up a notch.

According to TMZ.com, Chippy-D is trying to halt the sale and distribution of Pumper’s “Phattys Rhymes & Dimes 14” claiming that she never signed a release form allowing the footage to be used in the DVD.

In addition, Fishburne claims that Pumper’s release would also interfere with the release of debut movie through Vivid Entertainment.

Fishburne has hired a legal team who has already fired off “cease and desist” letters to Brian, demanding he stop selling his tape immediately.

Fishburne and her lawyers claim she only shot the footage with Brian to “practice” for her Vivid debut.

As previously reported, Montana has stated in countless interviews that she and Pumper are no longer “cool” and most recently she penned an open letter to her critics stating that no one should “judge her” for her choices and also discredits Pumper for giving her  a start in the porn industry.

In the blog that was featured on Vibe.com, Montana states that people have misjudged what she is about and that is a lot smarter than people giver her credit for.

“I want people to see that I am intelligent and not just having sex,” Montana writes. “Brian Pumper had nothing to do with getting me started. I did my first video with him, but that’s it.”

As of press time, Pumper nor his camp have responded to the order, but something tells me a diss track is coming soon.

Check the full letter she penned on Vibe.com below:

“The one question that always gets asked is, ‘What made me decide to pursue a career in porn?’ I lost my virginity at 16 and then I filmed myself at home having sex at 18. And I liked it a lot. I was really interested in different kinds of fantasies and porn was the way that I felt I could explore those fantasies, have fun and, more importantly, make money. For people to say that my decision to do this film is going to come back and tarnish my dad’s reputation, they really shouldn’t, because look at all the good work he has done.

After I announced I was going into porn, some members of my family were like, ‘Okay, I understand why your dad is upset.’ But there were other members of my family who said, ‘More power to you,’ because this has nothing to do with my father.

People shouldn’t judge me because they really don’t know me. They only think they know me because of what they hear, which is why I want people to read what I have to say… in my own words. I want people to see that I am intelligent and not just having sex. I was the one who reached out to Vivid. Brian Pumper had nothing to do with getting me started.

I did my first video with him, but that’s it. I chose Vivid because they are the best in the business and I wanted to go to the top seller. And they have released other movies with celebrity girls like Kendra, Paris Hilton, and Kim Kardashian. So, I wanted to go somewhere I knew I would be safe. People have it wrong. Doing porn is not about me becoming famous…it’s about becoming successful. Porn just happens to be the industry I was most interested in, so for critics to say I’m going about it the wrong way they are missing the point. I am making a buzz in the porn industry and in the mainstream, too. It’s leading me to more opportunities, so people can’t say that I’m not going to get anywhere.

You can come from a privileged family and still love sex. People who are privileged still watch porn; people who are privileged still have fantasies. We don’t all live by the standards of other people. Me being privileged has nothing to do with getting into porn except that it may have opened my eyes more. Being able to go to different countries and see how people look at sex as opposed to how America views sex in our culture, you realize that they are more open about it. I’m confident about my sexuality and body, which is more of a European way of thinking than American.

“You can come from a privileged family and still love sex. People who are privileged still watch porn… still have fantasies.”

When I hear people say that I’m doing a disservice to Black women and giving us a bad name by working in porn or that girls like Kim Kardashian can release a sex tape because they are White, I honestly don’t see the difference. Regardless if I’m Black, Yellow or White, it shouldn’t matter. What it all comes doing to is this: a woman is a woman. It would make more sense if people were criticizing me because I’m doing porn as opposed to me being Black.

Race doesn’t have anything to do with it. As I said, I went into the adult film industry to explore my fantasies, but I also want to establish my own porn production company. And I’m in the process of starting my own website. I want to give other people who are interested in porn and exploring their own fantasies the opportunity to do so. I think starting my own company would be really positive because I feel like a lot of people look at porn and are like, ‘You have to messed up; you have to be crazy; you have to had something horribly go wrong in your childhood.’ But after talking to some of the actors in the industry, I found out, Wow, you don’t have to have anything wrong go on in your childhood to want to get involved in the business.

I want to start a company for people like me who just have a pure interest in the adult film industry. I don’t want druggie girls…I want clean, healthy girls like me that are interested in making themselves feel empowered.

My film has already sold out. People really like it. They see that I’m uninhibited and they can see my fun-loving personality. Vivid has offered me a multi-picture deal, but I haven’t accepted it yet, but I want to do more films. However, I’m not just trying to be burnt out in the porn industry. I don’t want to make movies for the sake of making movies.

I want to be able to pick and choose the kind of work I do. The movie I have out now is more reality style. I want the next one to have more acting. I want to do some scenes with other women… Maybe do some bondage…I’ve never done those things. I just want people to get turned on.

I really am a good person. You can’t believe everything you hear. It insults me when I hear someone claiming that I was a prostitute. Why would I ever be a prostitute? That’s something really hurtful to say, especially since it’s not true. Being in porn makes people say the craziest things.

I will sit down and talk to my dad when all the media attention from the movie dies down. I don’t expect him to be happy about what I am doing. But I would like him to respect my decision and give me his blessing on all my future endeavors.”

Steve Stoute In TIME Magazine!

Check out this new interview with marketing genius Steve Stoute where he talks about some of his latest endeavors and how the culture of America is changing for TIME magazine.

On Mary J. Blige:

Stoute’s ability to engage consumers with his clients’ messages was on full display when Mary J. Blige debuted her new perfume, My Life, on the Home Shopping Network July 31 to record-breaking sales. The fragrance sold 60,000 units in six hours. According to the network, it also drove 20% of new customers to HSN. While the numbers were remarkable, so was the fact that buyers hadn’t even had a chance to sample the fragrance. Rather, Stoute had gotten Blige to create a series of online video vignettes so customers could connect with her. He calls the perfume “Mary’s life encapsulated in a product.” The marketing came down to the power of storytelling, says Stoute. “I put Mary on air and let her speak her story, her life, her journey and showed footage of her being part of the process of making the fragrance. It was a grand slam.”

On The Tanning Of America:

what he calls “the tanning of America.” The growing African-American, Hispanic and Asian-American populations together command an estimated $2 trillion in buying power. And they have become hugely influential trendsetters. Demographers know this, but Stoute sees the shift as a massive cultural transformation that most companies are missing.

According to Stoute, this seismic shift has ushered in an era of shared cultural tastes and attitudes. The tanning concept, he says, is built around not the physical reality of different racial makeups but rather what he calls “a shared mental complexion.” To make a brand relevant, companies need to understand that multicultural advertising is no longer a niche strategy: multicultural is what America looks like. “One of the things that made me realize right away that Steve was an innovative thinker was when I heard him talking about the tanning of America,” says Pamela El, marketing vice president of State Farm. “He said that advertisers and marketers need to follow the lay of the land, and the face of America is changing.” Stoute took LeBron James to State Farm, managing to make King James both relevant and funny in ads for insurance.

Eye Candy: Tahiry’s XXL Photoshoot!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Tahiry is XXL‘s Eye Candy for this mouth. She talks about her plan not to fall off, her fat-a**/flat-abs secret, her feelings towards her ex Joe Budden dating Esther Baxter, and would she ever date another rapper.

Peep below to see what she had to say + don’t forget to peep her SEXY Photos….

Models pop for a couple years then disappear. What’s your plan to not fall off?

You have to have an engine behind you and people that believe in you. So from being a spokeswoman to having my own T-shirt line, to my workout DVD… The thing about Tahiry is that, not only do people love hearing from her, they love looking at her.

Can you tell the female readers your fat-a**/flat-abs secret? Please?

I pretty much stick to my protein and two liters of water a day. I have one cheat day: Sunday. I do heavy weights and less repetition. Plus, when I do cardio, I cut up really quick.

How do you feel about your ex, Joe Budden, dating the superhot Esther Baxter?

I have no feelings. Funny thing is, I worked with her when me and Joey just broke up. We went to Baton Rouge for the screening of the movie Meagan Good did, Video Girl. That was, like, nine months ago, and now they supposedly been together for a couple months. I don’t really care. He could date Lady Gaga, and I’d give him a high five.

Would you ever date another rapper?

I won’t say I’d never date another rapper. People think it’s glitz and glamour, but it’s harder than these girls think. I’ll never say never.
