Florida Church Planning ‘Koran Burning’ To Mark Anniversary Of 9-11 Attacks!

A FLORIDA church is promoting an event where it will burn copies of the Koran to mark the ninth anniversary of the September 11 attacks on the U.S.
In the announcement on its Facebook page, The Dove World Outreach Center of Gainesville, Florida, asked other religious groups to join in standing “against the evil of Islam. Islam is of the devil!

The Facebook event has received more than 1,500 “Like” recommendations by users, but had also been attacked with a number of threatening messages posted on the page and corresponding anti-Islam rants.

The church’s pastor, Terry Jones – who has written a book titled “Islam is of The Devil” and sells T-shirts bearing the same message – defended the controversial event.

“Islam and Sharia law was responsible for 9/11,” Jones told Agence France-Presse.

“We will burn Korans because we think it’s time for Christians, for churches, for politicians to stand up and say no; Islam and Sharia law is not welcome in the U.S.

We’ve got many death threats from jihad groups, but we cannot react by fear and we cannot compromise our beliefs. Somebody must stand up.”

The National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) called for the church to cancel the event, The Christian Post reported.

“It sounds like the proposed Koran burning is rooted in revenge,” NAE president Leith Anderson said.

Yet the Bible says that Christians should ‘make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.’”

Mainstream Muslim groups also denounced the move and lamented the sentiments promoted by the Gainesville church.

Unfortunately in [Florida] and nationwide, Islamophobia are actually on the rise,” Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) spokesman Ramsey Kilic told AFP.

“I’m more afraid of those who have anti-Muslim sentiments and may think this is a legitimate action and may want to attack a mosque or attack a Muslim on the street,” he added.

However, Kilic said, “we are not taking any action to avoid this… we don’t want to give attention to this, because that’s what they want.”

Besides the Koran burning ceremony, the Dove World Outreach Center also plans an anti-homosexual event August 2 outside Gainesville’s City Hall. The “No Homo Mayor Protest” targets the city’s first openly gay mayor, Craig Lowe.

Sacramento Kings Star Tyreke Evans Arrested For Speeding!

NBA Rookie Of The Year Tyreke Evans had a whole of explaining to do after being arrested for reckless driving back on Memorial Day weekend for hitting speeds ranging from 120-130mph on a California Highway, but at least back then there wasnt a video to make matters worse. Well now there is.

California Highway Patrol has just released the video, and it would seem more likely that somebody high on drugs had stolen a car and took it on a wild joyride than to believe that a rising NBA star that plays for the Sacramento Kings was behind the wheel.

Evans on draft day with David Stern….im sure Mr.Stern isnt smiling with Tyreke now

After being stopped by police, Evans was arrested at gunpoint.

Attorneys say he pleaded no contest to reckless driving, was sentenced to 80 hours of community service, ordered to take part in teen driving programs and lost his license for 30 days. He’s very fortunate neither him or anyone else on the road were injured or killed at those speeds.

Lindsay Lohan Released From Jail After 14 Days

LYNWOOD, Calif. — Troubled starlet Lindsay Lohan is out of jail and into rehab.

The “Mean Girls” actress was released from the Century Regional Detention Facility at 1:35 a.m. Monday, spirited out a back exit as dozens of photographers and reporters waited in a press staging area out front.

She served 14 days of a 90-day sentence, getting out early because of jail overcrowding.

“She was picked up by court order by a designated driver,” sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore told the Daily News, declining to confirm rumors that mom Dina Lohan picked up her daughter. “We had to comply with the wishes of the court, and safety and security were the paramount concerns. It wasn’t special treatment.”

Whitmore told the assembled press less than 10 minutes after Lohan was secretly sprung that “she has been sent directly to her next destination, which is a treatment center, and she will now be under the supervision of the LA County Probation Department.”

Two black Cadillac Escalades were spotted speeding past the Lynwood jail minutes after deputies strung yellow caution tape near the door that Paris Hilton used for her famous exit in 2007.

Some photographers groused that the tape barriers were erected as a ruse.

Lohan began her jail term with the expectation she’d have a 24-hour break before reporting to 90 days of inpatient rehab. But Judge Marsha Revel changed her ruling late last week and ordered Lohan to start treatment immediately after her release from jail, a source told The News.
