Rapper Guru, the former lead singer
of hip hop duo Gang Starr, has died
following a long battle with
cancer. He was 43. The MC, whose
real name was Keith Elam,
reportedly passed away early Monday
(April 19). He suffered cardiac
arrest on March 2 and had briefly
been in a coma.
Finally! Oprah has responded to the controversial book about her life. She was at the New York Women in Communications Matrix Awards today presenting an award to her “secret lover” Gayle King. Lady O skipped the red carpet, but took the stage inside to bash author Kitty Kelley’s book about her life and her supposed secrets. Winfrey denied she and Gayle are lovers, saying her BFF “sometimes cares about my life more than I do.” She also mentioned that last week “was a rough one” for Gayle when the “so-called biography came out.”
“Gayle got herself worked out with all my new daddies coming out,” Oprah joked, referring to the part in the book where Kelley claims Vernon Winfrey is not her biological father.
“This, too, shall pass,” the daytime diva told the applauding crowd. Winfrey described King as “her best friend who always wants the best for me” adding, “She’s never been jealous or envious of me a single moment of my life except when I was on stage singing with Tina Turner.”
And Gayle was feeling the platonic love for her friend, saying Oprah showed her “what true love really is.”
Note to the ladies: those kinds of statements ain’t gonna do anything for those rumors!!
Kelis wants to be legally divorced from Nas so bad — and so quick — she has filed papers with the court asking them to make the split official ASAP.
According to documents filed last week, Kelis said in a declaration, “… it would be in the best interest of both of us if our marital status is terminated as soon as possible.”
Because she fears that the legal proceedings could take years to figure out, Kelis has requested that the judge immediately terminate their marriage — and wait until a later time to resolve “all other issues.”
As for the odds that the two will rekindle their romance — Kelis stated, “I believe there is no possibility of reconciliation with [Nas].”
Kim Kardashian is having stripper’s regret. The reality star now says she is sorry she took it all off for Playboy magazine in 2007. And she blames her mom for pushing her into it. “I’m sorry I did Playboy. I was uncomfortable,” Kim tells Harper’s Bazaar in a new interview where she – ironically – strips down again.
So why did she do Playboy? Her mom Kris Jenner told her to “go for it,” recalls Kim, who also quotes her mom as saying, “They might never ask you again. Our show isn’t on the air yet. No one knows who you are. Do it and you’ll have these beautiful pictures to look at when you’re my age.”
Kim’s latest nude romp for the cameras in the May issue of Harper’s Bazaar is a totally air-brush free pictorial. Not that Kim has any physical flaws to hide, but she does recall how much she hated her body when she was growing up. At age 11, Kim says, “I would go to bed and pray, ‘Please Lord, don’t let my boobs grow any bigger.’ I hated what was happening.”
What looked like a match made in Jersey Shore heaven has come to a quick demise – Snooki has broken up with her number one Guido, Emilio. Snooki believed Emilio was just using her to get famous, and that he was Facebooking other girls and trying to hook up. “She found out that he was writing messages to girls on Facebook at like 3am and asking them out to try and hook up. He even posted pictures on his page of him with girls wrapped around him.
“Snooki has a lot of self respect and she just won’t put up with that behavior. “In addition she’s suspected for a while now that Emilio was using her to get famous and to advance her own career. “She is beyond furious at him, and she now believes that he was just using, and now abusing, her so he would get famous.
“Snooki found out that Emilio has been trying to get on the Real World on MTV, and it didn’t take her long to work out that he was only dating her for her fame. “Emilio is so upset about the break-up, but let’s face it, he did it to himself. Obviously people have been watching him and following him since he started dating Snooki, and considering that what kind of idiot would post pictures of themselves with other girls?”
“Obviously Snooki has friends on the outside that are looking out for her.”
