Mariah Carey Heading To Rehab

According to sources Mariah Carey may be considering going into rehab. In the past months Mariah has been publicly intoxicated at many events and a source confirms Mariah’s drinking habits are out of control. A source close to the singer says Mariah drinks champagne all day long and it’s becoming a problem for Nick Cannon. It’s gotten so bad that Nick has suggested checking Mariah into rehab.

Sources say Mariah’s excessive drinking is caused by her fear of becoming a washed up superstar. At first it seemed that Mariah was just enjoying life and having fun, but clearly it’s become a problem. Damn.

Golden Globes Gifiting suite
Despite receiving an unprecedented $10,000/ episode commitment from MTV to return for Season Two, The Cast of the network’s hit reality TV show, Jersey Shore can’t stay out their own way. Already completely over exposed by their undeserved fame, one of the boozing young cast members has revealed that the self proclaimed “Guido/ Guidette” contingent may actually have some non Italian’s among them.

Tuesday, the surgically well endowed, Jenni “J-WOWW” Farley revealed in an interview with FOX’s “The Strategy Room” that she (Spanish and Irish), Ronnie (half-Spanish) and Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi (Chilean) are in fact NOT of Italian decent.

The revelation comes just as a national American-Italian group is revving up legal action against MTV and could lead to the cancellation of the group’s would-be payout.

New York Knicks Aquire Tracy McGrady

http://sp8.fotolog.com/photo/56/13/8/hermooosospavoos/1230246890285_f.jpg

Tracy McGrady is heading to the New York Knicks, who now have more than $9 million of additional salary-cap space to use in free agency this summer.

The Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings and New York Knicks have agreed to terms that expanded the Houston-Sacramento deal into a three-way trade.

The Knicks acquired McGrady and Sergio Rodriguez from Sacramento; the Rockets get Kevin Martin and Hilton Armstrong from Sacramento, and Jordan Hill and Jared Jeffries from New York.

This deal is about putting a team together, players who can help us now and in the future,” general manager Daryl Morey said. “We’re excited about how this sets us up for now and especially in the next year.”

Houston also has the right to swap first-round picks with New York in 2011, and the Rockets also get New York’s 2012 first-round pick.

Sacramento obtains Houston’s Carl Landry and Joey Dorsey and New York’s Larry Hughes.

A source close to the negotiations told ESPN NBA Insider Chad Ford that the Knicks’ 2011 pick is top-1 protected, and the 2012 pick is top-5 protected.

The deal puts the Knicks more than $30 million below the salary cap on July 1, when they will pursue several members of a free-agent class headed by LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade.

Depending on where the 2010-11 salary cap is set, the Knicks could have enough room to make maximum offers to two free agents, which was the lofty goal team president Donnie Walsh set for himself upon taking over nearly two years ago. The Knicks have not been below the salary cap since 1996, when they signed free agents Allan Houston and Chris Childs.

The Rockets and Kings agreed on a McGrady trade late Wednesday night, and the Knicks — who had been in detailed discussions with the Rockets for weeks — came in as the third team with basically the same package they were originally offering to Houston.

McGrady’s nearly $23 million salary comes off the books July 1, as does Al Harrington’s $10 million contract and Chris Duhon’s $6 million deal.

I have tremendous respect for [owner] Leslie Alexander and have enjoyed playing for the Rockets over the last six years,” McGrady wrote. “It has definitely been the most profound part of my career. I’ve learned a lot about myself from various situations, both good and bad that have occurred here. It was my hope when I came to Houston that I wouldn’t leave, but I do understand this is the business side of basketball.”

The Knicks also reached agreement Thursday on a trade sending Nate Robinson and a second player to Boston for Eddie House, Bill Walker and J.R. Giddens.

President Obama Tells Jay-Z He Loves Blueprint 3

Allhiphop reports:

Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 album has received its biggest endorsement via President Barack Obama. In a recent interview with BBC One, disclosed that the President loved the LP and was playing it during their recent phone conversation.

“Barack loves Hip-Hop, when I called him he was playing Blueprint in the gym,” he explained. “I’ve been invited to the White House a couple of times. Hopefully we’ll keep him in for 8 years so I’ll have time to get there.”

Obama has been a self-admitted Hip-Hop fan for years, and first met Jay-Z in 2008 as part of his goal to help emcees use their art to spark critical thinking and bridge generational rifts.

Also, the then U.S. senator was hopeful to see Hip-Hop artists as a whole move away from the misogyny and materialistic slant that’s gripped the art form’s mainstream in recent years.

“I’ve met with Jay-Z, I’ve met with Kanye [West]. And I’ve talked to other artists about how potentially to bridge that gap. I think the potential for them to deliver a message of extraordinary power that gets people thinking [is great],”Obama told BET on the special What’s In It For Us? “There are times, even on the artists I’ve named, the artists that I love, that there is a message that’s sometimes degrading to women, uses the N-word a little too frequently. But also something that I’m really concerned about is they’re always talking about material things about how I can get something; more money, more cars.”

Jay-Z acknowledged the Hip-Hop nation’s potential political power, but rejected the notion that artists should tone down their messages. Instead, he insisted that artists have a responsibility to speak on the uncomfortable truths of society, and not relegate their art to propaganda.

“Sometimes there are hard truths in rap, they’re not packaged with pretty ribbons. Sometimes the realities of the situations are harsh and they need to be told,” Jay reasoned to the BBC. “We’re the poets of our generation! Those truths and those honesties need to be told and sometimes that will rub people the wrong way but that don’t mean you don’t tell them. I think when rap is done brilliantly it can inform you of a problem, things that are going on.”

Even as the pro-Obama Hip-Hop songs slowed following the President’s January 2009 inauguration, Jay-Z has remained one of his strongest supporters.

The Brooklyn native spoke favorably of Obama throughout Blueprint 3, including the songs “What We Talkin’ About,” “On to the Next One,” and “Reminder.”

Today (February 19), President Obama will hold a town hall meeting at Nevada’s Henderson high school, followed by speaking engagements at the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce, and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority.

Clinical Study Shows Health Benefits Of Marijuana

Results from a clinical study at a Cannabis research center in California are confirming what many people claim to have known for years; that marijuana can provide substantial health benefits.

The study was conducted at the Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research at the University of California, San Diego.

Psychiatrist Igor Grant was in charge of the program and switched between giving patients marijuana and a placebo to test the accuracy of the drug.

The results showed that it was effective in reducing muscle spasms associated with multiple sclerosis and pain caused by neurological injuries or illnesses.

So far California is the only state to sponsor medical marijuana research.

Medical marijuana has been legal in the state since 1996 when voters approved of the Compassionate Use Act.
