Wycelf Jean Reacts To Human Trafficking Arrests In Haiti

http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh29/bigbeatproduction/wyclef-jean.jpg

In light of the tragedy in Haiti, a new problem is rising in the capital of Port Au Prince, human trafficking.

Ten Americans were arrested Sunday on charges of human trafficking after Haitian officials say they tried to take 33 Haitian children ranging in age from 2 months to 12 years to the Dominican Republic without proper documentation and permission.

Now outraged about the turmoil racking his country, Wyclef Jean released a series of angry tweets denouncing the traffickers saying,

“My message to the child traffickers n Haiti I give you my word we will hunt you Down one by one, and you will be judge(d) with no Mercy!”

The civilians accused of trafficking are part of a Baptist church in the U.S. and maintain that they were trying to save abandoned and orphaned children and planned to relocate them to safety.

They are being held at a government building until officials determine if they should go before a judge.

Haiti’s government has halted all adoptions for the time being unless the adoption plans were set in motion before the quake.

Reggae Artist Sizzla Arrested On Gun Charges

Dancehall and reggae music is in trouble as yet another one of its stars is doing battle with the law.  As previously reported Buju Banton was arrested December 10 after police say he conspired to buy more than five kilograms of cocaine from an undercover police officer and is currently fighting those charges.

Now adding his name to the list is Sizzla Kalonji.  Sizzla was arrested on Wednesday by Jamaica’s St Andrew parish Central police following reports that gunshots were fired at a group of people at a river in August Town.

According to The Weekend Star, Crime chief for the division, Deputy Superintendent Derrick ‘Cowboy’ Knight, stated that the entertainer, born Miguel Orlando Collins, was taken into custody following the shooting incident.

“The incident occurred sometime around 8:15 P.M. and we responded and Sizzla was arrested about 15 minutes later,” DSP Knight said before adding that Sizzla is in the process of being interrogated and his hands were also swabbed for gunpowder.

According to reports, people were gathering water when an armed man approached them and fired several shots in their direction. Although no one was injured, police reports from witnesses identified the reggae star as the shooter.

According to Knight, the reason behind the shooting may be that a number of areas in August Town are currently at odds.

“Well that is what happened based on the reports we have … We are investigating but we know that a number of places like Judgement Yard, Goldsmith Villa and Hermitage have constant friction, so we are looking into that,” Knight said.

This also isn’t Sizzla’s first arrest when it comes to pistol play.  In 2005, Sizzla was arrested and questioned after 13 high powered guns were dug up by police in the Judgement Yard section of August Town.

However no charges were filed after he denied any knowledge of the hardware and questioned for three days.

Juelz Santana Plans To Drop “Reagan Era” Mixtape On Valentine’s Day!!!

http://peakaction.files.wordpress.com/2006/09/_x3r1749_juelz-santana_650.jpg?w=392&h=571

Harlem based rapper Juelz Santana has slowly been on the come up and making himself more visible in Hip Hop as he begins his climb back into the limelight.

Releasing “Back To The Crib” featuring Chris Brown, “Mixin Up The Medicine” with Yelawolf and the recent track “Home Run” featuring Lil Wayne have all been steps to take as the rapper is gearing up for the release of his mixtape The Reagan Era, which is set to drop now on Valentine’s Day.

Although originally scheduled to drop back on New Year’s Day, let’s hope that this new release date will stick better and actually find the tape dropping as planned.

While talking with DJ Kay Slay during Best of Both Offices, Santana spoke on his particular hustle and finding the way to build momentum by his own means.

“Like sometimes, the label thinks the artists gotta do everything so you know like I say, I come from that groundwork, doing the mixtapes, getting our exposure and the Internet wasn’t even half as big as it is today to where I can do the free promotion, videos.

“So now it’s even funnier for me to lay the groundwork because you’ll be in the studio, freestyles, shoot videos, put em out and the whole world sees them the next day so I’m in six gears, I tell n*ggas. I’m only in second — I’m just gearing up to get people used to seeing Juelz Santana just in case they forgot.”

The recent release of “Home Run”, which also has a visual waiting to be dropped, marked the second stage of what Juelz plans to bring as he continues his return.

“I just switched over to second, the release of the Wayne song and my mixtape will be out the 14th of February, Valentine’s Day. I’m giving y’all that because I love y’all so much. All free. It’s all about getting them to come back used to me, I got a plan.”

Also, expect to see the leader of the Skull Gang teaming up with a member of G Unit as Lloyd Banks has stated that his first single off his upcoming third album will feature Santana.  The track is reported to be titled “Beamer, Benz or Bentley”.

Actor Rip Torn Was Arrested For Allegedly Breaking Into A Connecticut Bank Intoxicated …

Actor Rip Torn was arrested on Friday night for allegedly breaking into a Connecticut bank intoxicated … and armed with a loaded revolver, obviously.

Torn allegedly forced his way inside the Litchfield Bancorp building, setting off an alarm, state police from the Troop B barracks in North Canaan said.

When the police responded to the alarm around 9:40 p.m. they found Torn “with a loaded revolver and was highly intoxicated,” according to officials.

The actor, 78, was taken into custody without incident, and is being held there on a $100,000 cash bond and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Authorities say Rip will be charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, carrying a firearm while intoxicated, first-degree burglary, first-degree criminal trespass and third-degree criminal mischief. Who does this guy think he is, DMX?

He had two previous drunken driven charges against him in New York.

He was acquitted in a 2004 case and, in a second drunk driving case (see above), he pleaded guilty in 2007 to a lesser charge of being ability impaired.

Torn, a resident of Salisbury, Conn., is an award-winning actor in film and theater with more than 50 years of work under his belt. Recently, he has appeared in Dodgeball, August, Happy Tears, The Golden Boys and even TV’s 30 Rock.

Along with Rush, Vivica Fox, jazz musician Dave Koz, Miss America 2002 Katie Harman, gymnast Shawn Johnson and former ‘American Idol’ finalist Brooke White also judged. Her platform will be on AIDS education.

Other previous Black Miss America’s include Vanessa Williams who was replaced by another Black woman, Suzette Charles.

Game Responds To Tila Tequila Paternity Allegations

Tila Tequila celebrated the recent news of her pregnancy by shopping at Kitson Kids, managing to flash hundred dollar bills as she paid for her purchases
Reality TV star Tila Tequila stirred up controversy after professing to the world that rapper Game was the father of her unborn child. As previously reported Tequila posted Tweets on her Twitter addressing Game as the man who got her pregnant and saying that he would take her shopping for baby clothes. Now obviously fed up with the controversy Game is responding.

Speaking to TMZ, Game completely denies the allegations and says that he doesn’t even know Tequila.
Responding to a tweet Tila reposted on her Twitter page of Game reciting a Tupac line about his unborn child, Game says that he does have a baby on the way but not with the reality star.

“I am not the father…I was actually in the studio thinking about the song Tupac made about his unborn child. My son’s mother is pregnant, so I’m going that lane and she took it and ran with it.”

Game then says while he’s met her in passing at various events, he doesn’t really know her and in fact says that a friend of his could be the father.

“I don’t know her…met her in traffic. I might know who the father is…recently she was in the studio, she mess with my boy though…Avante. @Avante Rose. He might be the baby daddy.”

When asked for a final time if there was any way he could have gotten her pregnant Game says, “Like I said, I wouldn’t use 50′s stick.”

He then added, “You know Hunter Hearst Helmsley from the WWF he’s also known as the Game maybe she might be talking about him…Triple H.”

Tequila has since responded calling Game a “punk bitch”, “coward” and “deadbeat dad.”

She also says in 9 months she will take a paternity test to prove it and plans to appear on TMZ Monday to tell her side of the story.

SMH…when media whoring goes wrong.

Come on Tila…

10 Americans Detained In Haiti Accused Of Child Trafficking.

A group of American Baptists have become embroiled in the center of a growing fear in Haiti after the devestating earthquake – human trafficking.

Ten men and women were detained in Malpasse while allegedly attempting to cross the border into the Dominican Republic with 33 children in tow without proper paperwork, according to officials.

No children can leave Haiti without proper authorization, and these people did not have that authorization,” Haiti’s social affairs minister, Yves Cristalin, told Reuters.

The church group, most of whom are from Idaho, were arrested Friday night. They claim to have been taking the children – ranging in age from two months to 12 years old – to an orphanage in the neighboring nation.

In this chaos the government is in right now, we were just trying to do the right thing,” said Laura Silsby, a spokesperson for group, to the Associated Press.

The Baptists were part of the “Haitian Orphan Rescue Mission,” Silsby said. It’s goal is to save abandoned children and bring them to a 45-room hotel at Cabarete, a beach resort in the Dominican Republic, which the group claims to be converting into an orphanage.

We had permission from the Dominican Republic government to bring the children to an orphanage that we have there,” she told Reuters.

They accuse us of children trafficking,” Sillsby said. “This is something I would never do. We were not trying to do something wrong.

Haitian officials fear child trafficking could be underway following the devastating earthquake.

Speaking to CNN last week, Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive said he has received reports of kids being sold, and he believed human organs were also being taken from victims of the quake for profit.

But aid group UNICEF was quick to refute the claims, saying child trafficking is a major concern in the impoverished nation, but there is no hard evidence to back up the government official’s claims.

50 Cent Talks Sports @ X Games…

ESPN.Go: Winter X Games fans love their hip-hop. Rap superstar, actor and entrepreneur Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson loves to cross promote. Put those two together and you get 50 Cent playing a free show on Buttermilk Mountain. He got a chance to promote his latest movie — one of the first films picked up at Sundance — and 5,000 music fans got a sun-drenched set of world-class hip-hop.

Oh, and Page 2 got a few questions with the star.

This is your first time here. What are your impressions of the X Games?

This is amazing. These people, winners or losers, I don’t care, had to put in a lot of work to be here, ’cause obviously it’s really difficult — coming down those mountains is fast.

The Super Bowl — who you pulling for?

I’m going for the Saints. You’ve gotta be.

Did you play sports in high school?

Oh yeah. I liked all of them — all the ones that were available to me. Basketball, football, boxing — those things.

What can sports do for kids?

It gives them something constructive to do. It’s healthy. They are building themselves up. They have to focus. When they develop a passion for it and really work hard? Nothing like it, man.

So, if you could play a pro sport, if you could be any athlete, who would it be? Shaun White?

Ha! Shaun White’s pretty difficult, you know, I can’t … [shakes head and laughs]. You know, I really like Carmelo Anthony’s game. But I’d probably be Floyd Mayweather.

Why, because you like to talk, not fight?

[Laughs] Because I like to do both.
