Washington State Senator Wants Weed Sold In State-Run LIquor Stores…

Representative Mary Lou Dickerson, a state senator from Washington state, is proposing that a new bill be created in the effort to increase state revenue.

Under the proposed measure, marijuana would be available for purchase at all state-run liquor stores and customer 21 and older will be able to purchase state grown weed, paying a tax of 15% per gram.

All monies made from the tax would go toward Washington’s ill-funded substance abuse prevention and treatment program which is currently facing substantial budget cuts.

She predicts that the move would eventually net the state as much, if not more, money that is currently generated by alcohol sales.

Alcohol revenue gives the state of Washington over $300 million a year.
