Facebook Privacy: “Beware Of Everyone”

As promised, Facebook has begun rolling out new privacy options to its 350 million users.Watch out for the “Everyone” setting.
On Wednesday morning, users began seeing a message offering a new, simplified privacy settings page and the ability to set specific options for every post made to Facebook.
The changes, first announced this summer, again promised last week, and available today, give users much tighter control of who sees what, down to the individual reader, if desired.
Especially important is the new “everyone” setting that determines whether a Facebook post will be seen on other services, such as in Google search results.
Other settings include “only friends” and “friends of friends.” A “customize” option allows users to show or hide a post from specific individuals or user-created lists.
The options are available by clicking on a new “lock” icon that appears next to the “share” button when a Facebook user updates their status. Any setting may be chosen as a default and the default option may be changed as desired.
Facebook also today updated its privacy policy to reflect the changes.
Here is how the “Everyone” setting is described (this may be important to you):
“Information set to ‘everyone’ is publicly available information, may be accessed by everyone on the Internet (including people not logged into Facebook), is subject to indexing by third party search engines, may be associated with you outside of Facebook (such as when you visit other sites on the internet), and may be imported and exported by us and others without privacy limitations.
“The default privacy setting for certain types of information you post on Facebook is set to ‘everyone.’ You can review and change the default settings in your privacy settings. If you delete ‘everyone’ content that you posted on Facebook, we will remove it from your Facebook profile, but have no control over its use outside of Facebook.”
As of 8 a.m. Pacific Time today, not all users have been upgraded to the new privacy options. Others were upgraded months ago when Facebook began testing the new options.
Apple To Launch Tablet In Spring 2010
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) – Apple Inc is preparing to launch a tablet personal computer in late March or April, with manufacturer partners poised to roll out as many as 1 million units per month, according to an Oppenheimer research note.
The highly anticipated tablet is expected to pitch Apple into the digital book market popularized by Amazon.com’s Kindle e-reader. Apple declined to comment.
Oppenheimer analyst Yair Reiner said the new tablet could boost Apple’s earnings per share by 25 cents to 38 cents per quarter, assuming that it sells 1 million to 1.5 million units each quarter at an average price of $1,000 and a corporate average net income margin of 22 percent.
“Our checks into Apple’s supply chain indicate that the manufacturing cogs for the tablet are creaking into action and should begin to hit a mass market stride in February,” Reiner wrote.
“The February ramp schedule suggests a late March or April commercial release, since Apple will need to build at least 5-6 weeks of inventory before going live.”
He said the tablet will have a 10.1-inch multitouch LCD screen similar to that of Apple’s iPhone.
Apple has also approached book publishers to distribute their content electronically, and has offered them a revenue cut of 70 percent without requiring exclusivity, Reiner said.
He said that compares favorably to the Kindle’s 50 percent deal, and that Kindle only offers a 70 percent cut to publishers that give Amazon exclusive rights.
“As innovative as it is, we believe the Kindle has disgruntled the publishing industry (book, newspaper, and magazine) by demanding exclusivity, disallowing advertising, and demanding a wolfish cut of revenue,” Reiner wrote. “The tablet is set to change that.”
Reiner forecast Apple’s fiscal 2010 profit at $8.39 per share, compared with $6.29 in fiscal 2009, saying his estimate has not yet factored in the new device.
Shares of Apple were up 1.6 percent at $192.89 on Nasdaq.
2 Female Teachers Caught Naked Together

Alini Brito (left) and Cindy Mauro were tossed from James Madison High School after being caught naked with each other, sources say
NY Daily News Reports
Who’s hot for teacher? Looks like the other teacher.
Two female Romance language instructors were tossed out of their Brooklyn high school after being caught “undressed” in an empty classroom, sources told the Daily News Tuesday.
Students at James Madison High School in Midwood were watching a talent show in the auditorium while Alini Brito and Cindy Mauro were speaking the international language of love, sources said.
A janitor stumbled on French teacher Mauro, 33, and Brito, 29, a married Spanish instructor, and tattled to school officials on Nov. 20.
Both tenured teachers were removed from the classroom and sent to Education Department “rubber rooms” while they’re investigated for misconduct, sources said.
The episode is the talk of the school. Students even set up a Facebook group to discuss the shenanigans – and it already has more than 500 fans.
“Now you guys wished we installed cameras in our classrooms after all hmm?” wrote one student.
Janitor Robert Colantuoni refused to comment Tuesday. “I can’t talk about it, I’m sorry,” he said.
Brito’s husband, reached by phone, said he was unaware of the accusations, but denied them.
“The school district has not informed my wife of these allegations and they are untrue,” he said.
Students said both teachers were popular.
“[Ms. Mauro] was pretty fun,” said junior Eddie Ramirez, 18.
“She dressed like a teenage girl – she’d wear low-cut tops, shorts, three-quarter length jeans. She was kinda sexy.
“You could see that she was the kind of person who would flirt.”
Students said Mauro dyed some of her hair pink over the summer and has an array of sexy tattoos: a sun on her lower back, a flower on her leg, and a star on her foot.
Brito opted for more demure attire.
“She’s pretty,” said one 17-year-old who took French with her.
“Mrs. Brito was good-looking. Oh, yeah!”
A 16-year-old sophomore said Brito was a teacher students would come to with problems.
“She usually dresses elegant, looks smart,” he said. “She’s good-looking. And she was friendly, not flirty, just friendly.”
Students said gossip about the romp was flying through the school, where staff members were trying to keep a lid on it.
“The teachers don’t even want you to bring it up because they say they’ll get in trouble if we’re talking about it in class,” Eddie Ramirez said.
“They just say, ‘Let it go.’”
Teachers and administrators at James Madison would not comment yesterday, but the Education Department confirmed the probe.
“There was an incident in the evening when there was a school performance,” department spokeswoman Margie Feinberg said.
“The two teachers have been reassigned pending the outcome of [an Education Department] investigation.”

Rihanna’s Album Done Less Than Expected?
Rihanna is a non stop publicity magnet. She shows up every single day on blogs and TMZ and all the like for just changing her clothes or hair. She has a serious track record of album sales and a handful of monster hits. She has been on some of the biggest records with Jay-Z, T.I., Kanye, and others recently and is as relevant as it gets.
The lead up to her album drop included national tv interviews on 20/20 and more. Why after 2 weeks Rihanna has only sold 230k units and has come in at #18? Newcomer Susan Boyle, (who?), in the same 2 weeks span is over 1 million units sold.
1. Did the public overestimate the grown women effect? Those adult women who were disgusted by what Chris Brown did to her but did not feel enough of a connection to support her album.
2. Did the public underestimate the power of the teenage girls that still love Chris Brown and were forced to choose sides after Rihanna’s hatchet job on Chris in her 20/20 interview?
3. Is it the fact that many still say, “What did she do to set Chris off?”. That still has not been answered , especially given reports that she has punched and slapped him in the face in public in the past.
4. Or… Maybe her album sucks!!!
Probably a combination of all of these or a few of these. Who knows. Personally, I do think that teenage girl power will win out when Chris drops his album and he will swamp her sales. Folks forgave R Kelly after what was SEEN on Video.
Speaking of the Rrrah. Kelly debuts at 116k first week while Lady Gaga is still going strong moving an album and an ep for a combined 138k
