After receiving Shyne earlier this week, Prime Minister Barrow expressed his hope that his son will recover from the physical and emotional scarring of a decade in prison.
“When I saw him yesterday I really was stunned,” Barrow explained to Belize’s 7 News. “You don’t go to jail for that period of time without it obviously exacting a huge toll on you but I really was shocked to see what it had physically done to him and clearly it will take some time for him to be able to recover from that experience. Not having gone through it myself, I don’t know whether anyone is ever able to recover.
“But it was wonderful to see that he is free at last and good to have him in Belize. Although he appeared physically frail, it was obvious that he is mentally as strong as ever and certainly kept talking to me about what his presence here at home could mean for this country, what opportunities he could cause us to be able to, [and] he could create for us.”
A host of celebrities gathered in Manhattan today (October 30) to rally support for Love ‘N Haiti, a recycling project in Port-au-Prince that turns everyday trash into energy.
Rapper Tony Yayo, Melky Jean (Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter and Wyclef Jean’s sister), actor Jamie Hector (“The Wire”), actress Daphnee Duplaix (“One Life to Live”) and Mona Scott-Young (Monami Entertainment) encouraged New Yorkers to vote online for the eco-friendly program to win an international grant sponsored by the BBC World News.
“Love ‘N Haiti has benefits that reach far beyond the shores of my native country,” Melky Jean told AllHipHop.com in a statement. “It’s an innovative way to help clean up our planet while addressing the issues of poverty, unemployment and crime. This is a movement that everyone – Haitian or not – needs to get behind.”
The Love ‘N Haiti initiative aims to gather support to win a global competition for a grant to continue the recycling project in Port-Au-Prince, which aid in decreasing deforestation, creating jobs and reducing incidence of floods.
Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons, Garcelle Beauvais, former U.S. President Bill Clinton and Wyclef Jean are also among the supporters of the project, one of 12 finalists in the competition.
“I’m proud to be a part of this campaign, not only because it’s for my people, but because I care about our environment,” added Wyclef. “All it takes is one vote to make a difference. We need everyone to support Love ‘N Haiti.

Wax: I suggest you go to a nice clean shop with friendly people. Some shops even have a topical spray that will numb your area. There are also shops that have a book of designs that you can get waxed into your mane such as a heart, teardrop or even the first letter of your man’s name. But if you want to save your money, or you just have an issue with someone dipping hot wax on your lower area you can always shave at home. Whatever you do, the first step is to always fade it down. And by this I mean, grab a small pair of scissors and cut all the hair down low. Then you have your options. Here are a few:
Landing Strip: This is a strip of hair that extends from the top of your panty line on down. The strip can also start midway down. It’s all about how you like it. The width should be proportional to your lips.
The Mr. T: Similar to the landing strip, The Mr. T requires that you shave the sides and leave a slimmer landing strip. The hair should not be faded all the way down on the strip.
Bermuda Triangle: This is simply an upside down triangle. The top is the widest part and as you shave downward, make the hair form into a point. A semi point would probably look best.
Rising Sun: If your skills are pretty good you may want to try this one because it is for the slightly advanced. The rising sun is similar to the Bermuda Triangle because you will start with an upside down triangle. Once you have that, you shave the hair into three strips, thus forming the Rising Sun.
Bald eagle: Shave it all off
Buckwheat: If you just cannot get with the idea of shaving, you can always go with the Buckwheat aka au naturale.
Over the weekend, Beanie came out onstage with D-Block in Philly, and before he left the stage, he spit a subliminal-laden verse in the style of Jay-Z’s “What We Talkin’ Bout.”** Then tonite, on Hot97, the Drama King DJ Kay Slay’s world-premiered the whole 7-minute song+rant from the Broad Street Bully. Thank you to Slay for passing the song to me and you…
Beans is making alot of accusations here (B? BP3 show? No jail mail? Feds?)….I know one of y’all will post a transcript soon. Don’t forget the rant at the end too, when you do.
UPDATE: Beanie Sigel Calls Charlamagne Tha God (10/30/09) [38min]
“3:35-4:00 I love the way 50 did with his dawgs. If you look at it, them dudes got more money and more bread than anybody in State Property. Cuz 50 made sure of that. 50 went on tour AND paid them. Not tell them it was a good look for them to be on the tour and things like that. True story, I’m sitting on house arrest and the Young Gunz call my phone cuz Jay-Z is only paying them $1200 a show. And they had to split it.”

A gunman approached a North Hollywood synagogue this morning and shot two people before fleeing, according to police, who are investigating the attack as a hate crime. The shooting occurred at 6:20 a.m. at the Adat Yeshurun Valley Sephardic synagogue in the 12000 block of Sylvan Street. Two men about 30 years old were each shot in the lower torso and were taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, according to an LAPD spokesperson. The LAPD described them as Jewish.
LAPD sources told The Times that the gunman approached the victims as they were about to enter the temple for morning prayers. The sources said the gunman pulled out his weapon and fired. The gun jammed at first, then he fired again. Detectives don’t believe the motive was robbery, said the sources, who spoke on the condition that they not be named because the investigation is ongoing. At about 7:40 a.m., Los Angeles police arrested a man near the synagogue, but the sources say they don’t believe he was the gunman.

Hideki Matsui’s sixth-inning home run off old pal Pedro Martinez held up as the winning run as the New York Yankees pulled even in the World Series with a 3-1 victory over the Philaldelphia Phillies. The Yankees overcame an early 1-0 deficit on solo shots by Mark Teixeira and Matsui, with Jorge Posada adding an RBI single in the seventh. Martinez, well known to the Yankees after years with the rival Boston Red Sox and crosstown Mets, was charged with all three runs, striking out eight in six-plus innings. The best-of-seven series is tied 1-1 and moves to Philadelphia for Game 3, scheduled for Saturday night.
New York rapper Maino recently discussed remaining relevant in the rap game and announced plans to begin working on an untitled sophomore album.
Citing his “All of the Above” hit single as proof, Maino argued that his numbers reflect his relevancy.
“Like Jay-Z said, ‘People lie, but numbers don’t,’” Maino reasoned in an interview. “If you look at the numbers, I’m probably the most consistent new artist from New York. When you step outside of New York, I’m one of the only new artists from New York that get spins all over the country. My single is platinum; numbers don’t lie. We bringing the plaque back to Brooklyn. I’m running around like I ain’t never had nothing before. They gonna say, ‘We seen Maino walking up Fulton [Street] with a platinum plaque.’ Got-d*mn right [My new album] it’s coming. I’m putting out a new record next week. I ain’t gonna talk about it; I’m just gonna put it out.” (MTV)
